you guys now wha i mean?

I know what you mean but I disagree. There are manufacturers out there who can build absolutely stellar equipment but don't. I think a big part of it is places like Ebay. 10 years ago there was no such thing and you bought from your local shop. They wanted your business and took care of you becauseof it. Once Ebay came you could get items (although usualy unauthorized) for much cheaper and brick and mortar businesses suffered. They needed a way to compete with online companies and as such companies lowered the quality so that your local shop could maintain some sort of margin while still being competitive. Unfortunately its consumers that has brought this lower quality (in all things when you think about it) forth by constantly demanding lower prices.

I remember 10 years ago when people lauded over JL equipment and you rarely heard that they were overpriced. Today its all you hear but when you think about it the pricing scheme of all their lines haven't actualy changed that much. Some companies are out there that have a great product at cheap prices but it seems as if most of those companies always seem to close shop after a couple of years...anybody remember Adire, Entasy, and Mpyre?

people are still producing good equipment, look at the herculese amps, earthquake phd20000, soundstream XXX's (just got my hands on 2 of these) but u gotta pay for it, same as its always been, but the quality of the cheaper stuff is alot better, example, also got myself some audiobahn immortal quad voice coil 2ohm 2250 watt 15"s and they pump something insane and were relitively cheap!

I dont think I've ever bothered to post what my actual system is in this thread as it really was not very good lol..

The system when I bought the car consisted of a JVC H/U, Pioneer 6" (front) and 6x9" (rear), with a 12" Pioneer VCCS sub powered by an Alpine 2 channel amp (unsure which exactly).

But good news is now here. Ive just installed my new sub and amp and power cable....and will be installing a new head unit and front splits soon hopefully. The amp is an Option Audio X3100 (3kw rms @ 2 ohms) which is powering a Digital Designs 9512 sub.

Anyways. Will post a pic of the enclosure which is 1.8cu tuned to 40hz as soon as I upload it. I cant wait to get it metered as the thing is bloody loud!

so any suggestions???

if so where?? and any pics???

btw... i got

JVC head deck...
MB quartz 6.5" splits in door
2 MTX 12" subs
2 sony amps...

i had a better system back then but needed money so i sold it..

i had 2 JL 12" subs, same speakers in front and 2 JL amps.. 1000/1 and 500/1

I just cut the trim in the rer near the back seat
There is already a spot for 4" to go there i just made it a little bigger & a quick touch up will look ok

There is also in the boot lid if you take the trim off there room to put 6" there just need to make a spacer

Must be a big sub box i got a 15" sub in my boot now & i can get the spare wheel out with no problems
& still got half my boot space left :)

yer... it is a massive sub box..

i made it custom so it fits exactly in the boot with the 4" still in there from the back.

but its alright now... i took out the 4" rear spacer pod thingy's and i made brackets so i could have the 6" fit on them on the sides of the box..

there is no rattle when they pump and it sounds much better to have rear speakers in.

i knoe people say f*ck the rear speakers... but when u put some in... it make a difference!!! and don't say invest in good front speakers.. cause i have already!!... MB Quartz cost me a few hundred back then!

May aswell post mine up aswell

Alpine CDA-9813 Headunit
Bezerk 2Way 4 inch (sound crap)
Alpine Type S 6x9s in custom parcel tray
Pioneer 800w Mono Amp (another on the way hoping)
2x 12 inch Pioneer Subs

= Under $600 :D

Proposed....New Alpines Up Front

Its a little mess at the moment, but was only put in night before. Unfortnuately can only run one sub as the amp/cable cant handle it.

already ahead of you, i was just to do the basic wiring and rthey finish it off and make it perfect. I got told it might be the thickness about the actual power wire that connects the battery to the amp (insert technical term here  )

Just waiting till tomoz,

Well although its not the best system ever, thought i might post mine

Alpine CDA-9885 Headunit...great unit btw
2xKenwoods in the front (last owner)
2xRockford Fosgate Punch 6x9's in the Rear parcel tray (last owner)
Alpine 700watt V-power mono amp
Alpine Type R 12 inch sub 1500w peak (dual voice coil...what ever that means)

I was hoping to get rid of the K-woods and the RF's and put in Alpine Type R gear right the way through but then the clutch, CV and wheel bearing blew...and then i saw some cheap performance parts so i never got back to it.

In the barina I had a basic system,
Pioneer 5.25" yellow cone splits in the doors with tweeters flushmounted into the tops of the door trims, Pioneer 6x9" yellow cone in the custom MDF tray which i made seal the whole hatch so i could get a good sound outta them, 4x100 jaycar amplifier under the seat, pioneer DEH-P3950MP head unit.
Doors sound deadened with the jaycar stuff, whole hatch and spare wheel well sound deadened, whole harness made for the system, couldnt even tell there was stereo wiring anywhere, wasnt just a "throw the wiring in" job
No subs......but fucken hell, you didnt need em.....with 130 watts RMS at every speaker, sound deadening and top notch install job by myself, everyone was asking about what size sub I had.

My magna has the system out of the barina except for the splits (the magna having 6" factory door speakers, so i bought the 6" pioneer yellow cones and sold the 5.25 splits)
Still need to sound deaden the factory parcel shelf, rattles like hell but still sounds awesome

my econovan will have a full JVC system, once again wired with a custom harness
Its all planned out
JVC double-DIN 7" HU
JVC 4 channel amp
2 JVC monoblock amps
JVC carbon-kevlar 6" splits in front doors, sound deadened, tweeters 'glassed into a pillars
JVC carbon kevlar 6" splits in the rear, woofers in rear panel, deadened, and tweeters mounted on roof brace that runs roughly between the B pillars facing into the rear
JVC carbon-kevlar 6" co-ax in the tailgate, once again deadened
2 JVC carbon-kevlar 750w rms 12" woofers mounted in custom 'glass/MDF/vinyl enclosure just behind front seats

Optima Yellow-Top battery

Simple little stereo in my car, tried to keep the weight down, and kept standard Mp3 headunit

Stock Head unit and speakers
2x Jaycar Hi-Lo Converters to the two amps
Old Alpine 2x 100wrms for factory front speakers.
Head unit powers rear door speakers.
Lightning Audio 350rms sub amp with glove box Gain controller
Old Kenwood 'KFC300' 12"
12mm box made to fit under rear folding shelf using as little space as possible. Shelf can be folded back or used to protect sub when carrying things, shelf doesn't rattle when covering sub, which i was afraid of.

Made a little alloy plate to hold distro block, and another in glovebox to mount gain controller.

US Audio 12" Sub in Enclosure
US Audio 3 way 6x9 Speaker

if u want good sound, buy good equipment. the JL Audio W7 sub is the best sub ive heard ever. my mate had 2 installed in his car with a 1000W JL Audio monoblock & i thought i was gonna DIE! his window cracked evenually.

i was running a pretty heavy system in my DC5 Type-R Integra. i had 6" kicker speaker with twitters that could be mounted inside the speaker if there was no room for it, powered by a 500W 4 channel JL Audio amp & a 15" Alpine Type-R powered by a 500W JL Audio Monoblock. my head unit was the single din JVC dvd player with bluetooth.

spent alot on that system & it sounded krayzie. if i find sum pics ill post them up.

i highly recommened JL audio & Kicker. they r prob the best audio equipment ive heard.

I'd leave the JL's in the front and put some coaxials in the rear and amp them all.
