sorry to hear man, i had a stereo stolen out of my skyline about 3 years back :( was a horrible feeling, was parked at my now ex gf's house, and she reckoned she knew who it was so i was looking for them for ages, even found out where they lived and went there with an army of friends to recover what was mine, but i never caught up with the guy or his lil hyundai excel unfortunately, lost my black series mtx 6000 12" and custom mtx box and my v12 mono block :(

bolt + screw everything down, the bigger and heavier your system is also the harder it is to steal, if all your amps/speakers/subs are screwed into seats etc + an alarm, makes it very hard for some one to steal, as it will take them time to take everything out, a theif will want something they can take quikly, cut some wires pick it up and run off or into there vehicle and drive off, so yeh making sure everything is secure and alarmed is the best bet

also if you have a giant box with many subs it makes it very difficult to steal also haha watch a thug try run away with a box containing 4x 15" subs with 250oz magnets and 8cubic feet of 20mm mdf, this is my advice :P

got a question for you all, how many of you guys got your systems installed by professionals?

I ask this as I have done a re-wiring for a supra, lancer, swifts etc. The only difference I can see between a amateur and a professional is soldering rather than just electrical tape and perhaps a certificate

can i have one too?

seriously though, I am thinking of advertising locally for audio installs inc neons etc, warranty will be provided if it was done by me. i.e. the customer didnt tweak or add anything later.

been told by quite a few people, having done 5 different cars - putting in aftermarket stereo's, upgrading aftermarkets & replacing with factory etc, it is more than enough to start free lancing.

what you guys think?

If it pays the bills why not? I do a few sub enclosures a year to suplement my income. It doesn't make me a fortune but its enough to keep me happy and lets me build things I can't afford to build for my car :P.

just wondering, how come people choose to have a sub or more than one sub, but also have 6x9's. They'd start to distort once you have the rest of your system running at its peak.

My Soundsystem has changed again this is what it has now;

Anyone wanna guess my favorite brand?

Headunit:
Pioneer AVH-P6850DVD

Speakers:
Soundstream Tarantula 6.5" 120wat RMS Splits up front
Soundstream Picasso 4" 80wat RMS Speakers behind Vents in the back seat area
Soundstream Picasso 4" 80 Wat RMS Speakers in speaker holders each side of parcel Shelf

Subwoofer:
Soundstream Reference R1 12" 800wat RMS (Only 20 brought into Australia)

Amps:

Soundstream PCA4.520 (4 Channel at 85x4 RMS for front and rear speakers)
Soundstream PCA1.650 (650wat RMS Class D Monoblock for Sub woofer)

Power Cap:
Soundstream SCX.4 4Farad Power Cap

Wiring:
Complete Soundstream wiring including Shielded RCA's, 4 AWG Power from battery to Soundstream Power Plant for distribution of power to each amp

Dont even ask what it cost!!! but it's extremely more powerful then my last setup, and much crisper as the car soundsystem has been built for SQ and not SPL.. so the clarity was the key focus..

Just some pics

Whats sad is that as good as soundstream is today (and it really is good) it was a million times better 7-10 years ago. I wonder when we are going to get audio companies like we did 10 years ago.

i kinda disagree with that, as to todays standards in audio equipment. as the lower or 'cheaper' brands such as clarion boss etc, - not so much clarion, they have simliar products with a range as diverse as soundstream etc. years back soundstream may of been exceling in audio as they were further involved in their research, now a days, the other brands are up to the same speed.

you guys now wha i mean?
